WASHINGTON — E. Kears Pollock, who retired April 1 as executive vice president of PPG Industries Inc., will complete his term as chairman of the National Paint & Coatings Association (NPCA), the NPCA has announced. Pollock will serve as NPCA chairman until October 2001, and will continue to act as PPG’s official representative with the NPCA.

NPCA President J. Andrew Doyle said the association is “fortunate to have Kears as our chairman. His character, integrity and knowledge of the industry will provide NPCA with outstanding leadership over the next 18 months.” Pollock received the NPCA’s highest honor, the George Baugh Heckel Award, in 1997. He was cited for his leadership role in implementing Coatings Care, the NPCA’s comprehensive health, safety and environmental program.
