PRINCETON, NJ - Rockwood Specialties Group Inc. said it will acquire four businesses of Dynamit Nobel, based in Troisdorf, Germany, including titanium dioxide (TiO2) pigment supplier Sachtleben Chemie GmbH and surface-treatment and lithium-chemicals producer Chemetall GmbH. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Also included in the purchase agreement are Dynamit Nobel's CeramTec AG ceramics business and DNES Custom Synthesis pharmaceutical intermediates unit. Dynamit Nobel is the chemicals group of MG Technologies AG, based in Frankfurt, Germany.

Rockwood Specialties said it planned to form a new specialty chemicals group with the acquisition, adding that the group would have combined annual revenue of approximately $2.5 billion.
