An exterior masonry coating resin, Pliolite® developed by Eliokem, was recently selected to renovate two residential complexes, Ihlas Marmara Evleri and Ihlas Yuva Evleri, located near Istanbul (Turkey) along the sea of Marmara, close to one of the highways linking the city to the airport.
Due to their location, these buildings are constantly affected by pollution and atmospheric changes - sun, wind-driven rain, humidity and temperatures fluctuating between 0 and 5 °C in winter and 25 to 30 °C in summer. For their inauguration 10 years ago, the owner of the buildings, Ihlas, wanted an all-weather application and a long-lasting decorative paint. He appointed Marshall and DYO who provided an exterior masonry paint based on Pliolite resins.
Ten years later, in 2005, Ihlas decided to renovate both complexes. Once again he wanted a paint that resisted the elements and pollution and at the same time retained its decorative appearance. So, again, he appointed Marshall as the unique paint supplier. For a project of this magnitude, they selected a Marshall professional brand Prolite®, a masonry paint that is formulated with Pliolite resins.
Pliolite resins exhibit good hardness, and excellent quality and durability in humid and sunny areas. Their application and their drying are not affected by climatic conditions. Moreover, they are highly resistant to yellowing and discoloration on exposure to UV light over long periods of time.
The film of Pliolite resin-based masonry paint is sufficiently waterproof to prevent humidity and rainwater from penetrating into the substrate, and yet microporous to permit the evaporation of moisture present in walls.
Batuhan Insaat was appointed as the exclusive applicator. The project, which covers about 250,000 square meters, started in 2005 and was to be finished by the end of 2006.
For the past 40 years, Pliolite resin-based masonry paints have become an institution. This success stems from an unequalled level of performance and safety, but also a quality policy unrivalled for many years. Pliolite technology is compliant with the 2010 European legislation on VOC reduction. n
