SAN FRANSISCO - A NanoScale Materials Stewardship Seminar will be held Oct. 27, 2008, at the San Francisco Airport Marriott Hotel. The seminar is held in conjunction with the 5th International Congress of NanoBio & Cleantech 2008. It will allow participants to discuss initiatives and collaborate with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) and the California Environmental Protection Agency’s (CALEPA) Department of Toxic Substances Control.

Participants will gather and develop information on the environmental and safety impacts of nanoparticles, carbon nanotubes, quantum dots, fullerenes and metal oxides. Participants will discuss the USEPA’s Nanoscale Materials Stewardship Program and the State of California’s recently passed legislation affecting nanomaterial manufacturers, a law which amended the California Health and Safety Code to add provisions holding manufacturers responsible for the development of certain information on chemicals produced or imported in California.
