Thermo Fisher is offering free training on the use of the NITON field portable XRF analyzers for lead (Pb) and other metals. This training is offered to provide an overview of the power of portable XRF analyzers, and to comply with the requirements of certain states that mandate that users obtain radiation safety training on these instruments for licensing/registration purposes. Subjects covered include radiation safety; X-ray fluorescence theory; hands-on training for lead paint testing; hands-on analysis of coatings for lead and other metals; overview and experience with the NITON touch screen user interface, on-site dust wipe, soil (EPA Method 6200), and paint chip analysis; on-site analysis of worker exposure cassettes for airborne lead (NIOSH Method #7702); and overview of RoHS compliance testing and metal alloy analysis.

Attendees are encouraged to bring samples to class.
