We are debating whether to powder coat wood, and if it can be done. Is there a material that will allow us to use our existing equipment? Are there materials that will provide a conductive coating on the surface? The product will be white pine 2x4s, and we are looking for high gloss.
Wood can be powder coated, but not all types of wood, and not all powders work on wood. White pine is a problem. There is enough moisture in pine to blister the powder at the temperatures necessary to melt the powder. If this is a big project, you can consider the latest version of flame spray powder application (also called thermal spray).
