A record number of visitors from 48 different
countries attended the Asia Pacific Coatings Show 2007 held July 6-8 at the
Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre in Thailand.
Experts
from Europe’s leading companies involved in the polyurea sector have joined
forces to form the Polyurea Development Association (PDA Europe), a new body
set up to handle industry issues relating to polyurea technology.
The National Paint & Coatings Association (NPCA),
in cooperation with Vincentz Network (VN), is launching a new Science and
Technology Initiative including a new American Coatings Show.
According
to a study by the consulting firm of Kusumgar, Nerlfi & Growney the U.S.
paint and coatings industry sold 9.5 billion dry pounds of product valued at
$23.8 billion in 2006.
The
NPCA’s Chairman of the Board Charles E. Bunch, chairman and CEO of PPG
Industries, Inc., received the Business Citizen medal from the Friends of Adam
Smith (FOAS) as one of its 2007 Adam Smith Award winners.
The Missouri and New Jersey
Supreme Courts issued rulings with a straightforward and unambiguous result:
public nuisance causes of action by municipalities seeking damages for
ill-maintained dwellings, from historical manufacturers of ordinary and
necessary products, are declared terminated.
On June 5th at a meeting of the National
Classification Committee (NCC) of the National Motor Freight Traffic
Association (NMFTA), the committee docketed a proposal to change the
classification of paint and related materials at a higher freight rate based on
density.
The
Center for the Polyurethanes Industry of the American Chemistry Council (ACC),
formerly Alliance for the Polyurethanes Industry, will offer multiple training
courses as part of its 2007 Professional Development Program (PDP), scheduled
for September 23-26 in Orlando, FL, in conjunction with its Polyurethanes 2007
Technical Conference.
An analysis summarizing the importance of the
polyurethanes industry to the U.S. economy was released by The Center for the
Polyurethanes Industry of the American Chemistry Council (ACC), formerly
Alliance for the Polyurethanes Industry.
