Carolina Process Control, a distributor of
metal-finishing chemicals and equipment, has announced that its Luster-On
product known as Aluminescent has received approval under the government Mil
Spec of MIL-DTL-81706B for chemical conversion coatings.
Omya Inc. has
consolidated its distribution network in several western states and has added
Lipscomb Chemical Company Inc. as a distributor for ground calcium carbonate.
Arizona Chemical will pursue a significant investment
in its Inks & Coatings business, a move that includes ceasing operations at
its Valdosta, GA, chemical plant sometime in late 2008 or early 2009.
Rohm and
Haas Co. and Weihai Jinhong Polymer Co. Ltd. have begun formal operation of
their joint venture company, Jinhong Rohm and Haas Chemical Company (JinHaas).
The newly created
Nubiola North American Technology Center, managed by Nathan Karszes, Technical
Manager, increases laboratory capabilities for research and development,

BASF Performance Materials, formerly BASF EVP &

distribute organic and inorganic pigments, MEARLIN® effect pigments,
dyes, pigment dispersions, UV absorbers, and HALS and Attagel®
attapulgite clays (formerly Engelhard) in Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Iowa,
Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota.
Ciba Specialty Chemicals announced a
second-quarter profit with sales up 2% in Swiss francs and operating income up
5%, despite an increase in raw material costs.
