Leading Greek operator Neda Maritime Agency Co. Ltd. has become the first ship owner to receive carbon credits through a landmark scheme developed by AkzoNobel.

AkzoNobel announced the issuance of more than 126,000 carbon credits worth more than $500,000.

Two ship owners are due to be awarded a combined total of almost $500,000 when the first claims resulting from a new carbon credits methodology developed by AkzoNobel and The Gold Standard Foundation are finalized next year.
