MUMBAI, India – Carbon back producer Birla Carbon has been awarded a Gold Recognition Level in sustainability performance pursuant to a survey conducted by EcoVadis. The survey also places Birla Carbon among the top 2% of all performers in the survey.

EcoVadis based its findings on Birla Carbon’s fourth sustainability report, titled “Maximizing our Potential Through Sustainable Operational Excellence,” for its analysis. The report focuses on Birla Carbon’s Sustainable Operational Excellence strategy, which is driving sustainable business growth. EcoVadis recognized Birla Carbon as being part of the top 3% in its industry sector (manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products) and has also placed the company in the top 4% in the same category for its fair and effective labor practices.

EcoVadis is a collaborative platform enabling companies to monitor the sustainable performance of their suppliers. EcoVadis uses its unique CSR assessment system with a methodology covering 150 purchasing categories, 110 countries and 21 CSR indicators. The system analyses and evaluates company performance over four major categories: Environment, Labor Practices and Human Rights, Fair Business Practices, and Sustainable Procurement.
