TAMA, IA – Deimco Finishing Equipment, a designer and builder of custom finishing and material handling systems, has hired John Boland as a Controls Technician and Josh Edel as a Technician. The positions were created to support the continued growth of Deimco Finishing Equipment. Tom Arneson, Vice President and General Manager of Deimco, said, “We are excited to welcome both John and Josh into the Deimco family. They will be a great addition to our team and resource for our customers for years to come.”

Boland obtained his bachelor’s degree in engineering from the University of Northwestern in St. Paul in May of 2021. He previously worked for Deimco as an intern over multiple summers. As Controls Technician, Boland will be responsible for the operation and troubleshooting of numerous robotic, electrical and pneumatic control systems.

Edel joins Deimco after graduating with a bachelor’s degree in economics and business administration in May of 2020. He has previously held roles in inventory and maintenance for Schimberg Co., Whole Excavation and Ricken Tiling. As Technician, Edel will work collaboratively to fabricate and implement mechanical, electrical and pneumatic assemblies; in addition to accounting duties.

“We’re excited to add John and Josh to our team,” said Kirk Shirar, President and co-owner. “We continue to invest in people, products and facilities as we execute our strategy to be the first choice finishing and material handling solutions provider.”

Additionally, Deimco hosted U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA) during her annual 99-County tour of Iowa. A 10,800-square-foot expansion was opened in early 2021 and was fully operational for Ernst to observe. The tour featured a demonstration of a fully pre-assembled automated material handling system for a customer. The system places building materials on pallets with robotic pick and placement, an overhead gantry, wrapping and custom conveyance, all in one automated system.
