Beckers Group announced the grand opening of the FutureLab in Liverpool, UK. This state-of-the-art facility will drive the development of the next generation of coil coatings. The new building effectively doubles the capacity of Beckers’ long-term development department, enhancing the company’s ability to produce more sustainable coatings.

FutureLab features several new pieces of equipment essential for future developments, such as the enhancement of UV/EB coatings. Sustainability is at the core of its design, incorporating Beckers’ thermal-control coating on the roof to reduce energy consumption, an active carbon filtration system on the VOC exhaust chimney, and heat pumps to cut CO2 emissions associated with heating.

The facility also includes a customized experience room, welcoming customers and partners interested in collaborating on future developments. These features not only enhance the functionality and efficiency of FutureLab but also align with Beckers’ commitment to innovation and creating a positive industry impact.

FutureLab is set to be a hub for creativity, collaboration, and cutting-edge research, contributing to society by promoting education and local job opportunities.

“FutureLab represents a significant leap forward in our commitment to innovation and sustainability,” said Gavin Bown, Beckers Group chief technology officer. “This facility embodies our dedication to pioneering new technologies and sustainable practices that will lead the coatings industry into a brighter, more responsible future. I am thrilled to inaugurate FutureLab and excited for the groundbreaking work that will emerge here.”

FutureLab was inaugurated on Sept. 26, 2024, during a full-day event led by Jenny Lindén Urnes, owner of Lindéngruppen, and Fabio Pedrazzi, Lindéngruppen CEO. The event featured presentations, tours of the new facility, and discussions on the future of sustainable innovation at Beckers.
