Bostik, the adhesive solutions segment of Arkema, announced a $27 million investment in its Middleton, Massachusetts, manufacturing plant to increase capacity and reliability in high molecular weight polyester production. The investment also supports the local economy, with more than $12 million allocated to local vendors for installation, fabrication and civil works.
The Middleton facility is Bostik’s largest U.S. manufacturing site and produces a range of adhesives and resins, including polyesters used in heat-activated specialty hot melt technologies. The infrastructure upgrade includes the addition of a new reactor to double capacity and the replacement of existing reactors to improve product output and reliability.
“Our polyesters can be recyclable or compostable and address evolving regulations, such as food contact compliance and BPA-free requirements,” said Chris Glover, senior vice president of North America Group Manufacturing. “This investment enables us to support customers’ sustainability goals while enhancing production continuity and scale.”
The project aligns with Arkema’s broader commitment to sustainability and the development of advanced materials that help reduce environmental impact.
