Covestro Baytown Site Extends Four-Year Recognition Streak

Covestro LLC’s Baytown, Texas, manufacturing site has received the 2025 Caring for Texas Award from the Texas Chemistry Council.
The annual award recognizes member facilities for performance and leadership in community engagement, safety, environmental stewardship, sustainability and emergency response. Recipients are evaluated on their application of Responsible Care® principles and measurable contributions to operational excellence and their surrounding communities.
The Texas Chemistry Council selected Covestro’s Baytown site based on its safety culture, environmental programs and continued investment in local resilience and development initiatives.
“This recognition reflects the commitment of our Baytown team to operate safely, sustainably and as a trusted neighbor in the community,” said Victor Ortega, Baytown site manager and senior vice president of Performance Materials and Operations North America.
Current initiatives at the site include emissions reduction, energy efficiency, digitalization, emergency preparedness and operational-safety programs. Covestro also supports education, workforce development and community partnerships throughout the Gulf Coast region.
The recognition marks the fourth consecutive year the Baytown facility has received the Caring for Texas Award. The site has been honored 13 times since the program began.
