ARLINGTON, Va.- The Alliance for the Polyurethanes Industry (API) issued a call for papers and posters to be presented at the Polyurethanes Technical Conference and Trade Fair 2005, scheduled for Oct. 19-22, 2005, in Houston. Abstracts for papers are due by Jan. 31, 2005, and abstracts for posters are due by May 2, 2005. Papers and posters on coatings are encouraged.

Meanwhile, the API announced that the winners of 2004 "Best Paper" awards at the recent Polyurethanes 2004 Conference included a presentation by Bedri Erdem, Deb Bhattacharjee and Lao-Jer Chen of The Dow Chemical Co. Their paper, which won the award in the Coatings, Adhesives and Sealants category, was titled, "A Detailed Understanding of Polyurethane Dispersions, Their Processes and Applications." In the conference's poster competition, award winners included Jeffrey D. Gross, EuroTech Distributors Inc., for a project titled "Measurement of the Reaction Profile and the Pot Life of PU-CASE Materials."
