CLEVELAND - Employees of ICI's The Glidden Co. unit and other volunteers painted kindergarten classrooms at 34 schools across the United States recently in the company's "Colorful Classrooms Campaign," a community-relations program launched by Glidden last year to improve the learning environments of kindergarten classrooms.

Glidden supplies paint for the program, and rollers and brushes are provided by Purdy Corp., based in Portland, OR.

"Glidden has long recognized the important role that color plays in setting a mood or environment," said Jeff Krejsa, director of Marketing for Glidden, "and perhaps nowhere is the environment more important than in a school classroom."

In the program's first year in 2000, Glidden employees and volunteers painted kindergarten classrooms in 12 schools around the country. Schools participating in this year's program are located in 22 different states, Glidden said.
