The first annual report for Oregon’s paint recycling program, PaintCare, shows a successful first year. Through partnership with 95 collection sites, Oregon residents recycled more than 469,665 gallons of paint between July 1, 2010 and June 30, 2011.

PORTLAND, OR – The first annual report for Oregon’s paint recycling program, PaintCare, shows a successful first year. Through partnership with 95 collection sites, Oregon residents recycled more than 469,665 gallons of paint between July 1, 2010 and June 30, 2011. Collection sites included retail paint and hardware stores, ReStores, household hazardous waste collection facilities, and events. In addition, large-volume direct pickups were provided to institutional, commercial and industrial entities.

The collected material included latex paint, which accounted for 75 percent, and alkyd paint, which accounted for 25 percent. In addition to the actual paint recycled, the PaintCare program recycled 47.1 tons of plastic paint pails and 64.8 tons of metal pails.
