EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ – Ciba has announced a new expert services seminar, “Extracting Value from REACH: A Practical, Interactive Seminar,” to be held June 9, 2009, at the Sheraton Meadowlands Hotel & Conference Center, East Rutherford, NJ.

Industry focus over the last few years with respect to REACH has been on phase-in substances, including aspects such as preregistration, SIEFs, data sharing and consortia. With the REACH preregistration deadline in the rearview mirror, industry’s focus is now shifting to the next phase of REACH: registration. Registration under REACH is not just limited to phase-in (existing) substances; companies must also understand how to complete registrations for non-phase-in (new) substances as well.

This seminar will provide a brief introduction to REACH and a summary of recent developments from the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA). However, the main focus is to help industry better understand the various elements associated with the registration of phase-in and non-phase-in substances under REACH and to begin extracting value from the legislation. The seminar will provide participants with an opportunity to hear industry experts who have practical knowledge in handling phase-in and non-phase-in substances and supporting companies along the supply chain. It is also a platform to share best practices, allowing companies to make sense of their obligations under REACH, while making the most from the reduced requirements and exemptions.
