NUREMBERG, Germany - The European Coatings Show plus Adhesives, Sealants, Construction Chemicals again proved its undiminished power of innovation.
 
The international coatings industry currently faces special challenges due to the problems experienced by its major customers in the building and automotive industries. However, development is making great advances, especially in the field of high-quality coatings and paints, sealants, construction chemicals and adhesives. The basic properties alone have long ceased to be sufficient. There is an extremely high demand for new product functionalities such as self-cleaning, self-healing and antibacterial coatings.
 
The show featured 806 exhibitors from 42 countries. Exhibitors offered the approximately 20,000 visitors from 90 nations a range of raw materials, laboratory and production equipment, testing and measuring equipment, and services. 160 product presentations at three forums at the heart of the exhibition provided additional information during the three days of the event. The size of the show exceeded the expectations of the exhibiting companies.
 
The European Coatings Congress included 160 speakers from all over the world. Speakers offered the 461 congress participants a look into the future of the coatings industry in 26 highly compressed sessions.
 
The coatings community meets next year at the American Coatings Show & Conference 2010 from April 12-15, in Charlotte, NC.
