TROY, AL - KW Plastics, an affiliate of KW Container, has received the GPEC 2009 Plastics Recycling Technologies and Applications award. The award was presented during the Global Plastics Environmental Conference in Orlando, FL.

KW Plastics was selected on the basis of pioneering work in development of a nationwide recycling program for used plastic containers generated by the paint and coatings industry. Historically, these containers have been disposed of in landfills at a rate of more than a billion pounds per year.

According to KW Owner N. Kenneth Campbell, “KW is providing its technical and logistical expertise to paint and coatings manufacturers in the U.S. and abroad in developing container recycling programs, which have the potential of preventing billions of pounds of material that industry depends on from entering landfills. Hopefully, the valuable scrap material that has historically been lost will re-enter the supply of renewable resources that is used in the manufacture of a variety of new containers.”

KW Plastics purchases the scrap directly from its customers and transports the material to one of its plants for processing into reusable resin. The resin is then shipped to various container manufacturers for new container production, including KW Container.
