INDIANAPOLIS, IN - The upcoming Coatings, Inks and Solvents TAP meeting, sponsored by the United Soybean Board, will be held at the Crowne Plaza Indianapolis Airport, Indianapolis, IN, on May 4-5, 2010.
 
Lee Orr and Steve Wildes, Omni Tech International, will give the opening remarks, and John Campen, USB/Smith Bucklin, will welcome participants.
 
On the first day of the event, Jim Martin, Omni Tech International, will give an address titled “Soy Availability & Sustainability as a Global Raw Material.” Yasmin Sweet, Alberdingk Boley, will give the paint and coatings supplier’s outlook. Duke Rao, Sherwin Williams, will speak on “Waterborne Soy Latex Emulsions.” The address, “The Soy Bioremediation Market,” will be given by Gary Birk of EOS Remediation. “Selling to Government Buyers: Opportunities & Challenges” will be presented by Sueanne Pfifferling, Pfifferling & Associates, and Jim Pollack of Omni Tech International will present “New Life Cycle Analysis Report.” “Soy Proteins: Processing, Products and Functional Characteristics” will be presented by Russ Egbert of ADM.
 
On the second day of the conference, presentations will include: “The Sustainable Efforts of NAPIM” by Jim Galloway, INX; “BioBased Solvents: Future Opportunities,” by Mark Henneberry, Florida Chemical; “Soy Acrylics for Water-Based Applications,” by John Schierlmann, Rust Oleum; “Soy-Based Alkyd Latex Traffic Paint: Update on Formulation & Testing,” by Carl Sullivan, Reichhold; “New Soy Solvents & SBAC,” by Sheldon Chesky, BioSpan Technologies; “Use of Soy-Based Monomers in Printing Ink Resins,” by Lance Niemann, Niemann & Associates; “Development of ‘Sweet’ Soy-Based High BioRenewable Content UV,” by Zhigang Chen, North Dakota State University; and “Advances in the Development & Commercialization of Stains, Sealers and Top Coats Containing CMSO,” by Al Fuchs and Steve Fisher of Coatings & Inks Research.
