Glidden Professional™ has launched a new sustainable innovation – Waste Paint Hardener.

STRONGSVILLE, OH – Glidden Professional™ has launched a new sustainable innovation – Waste Paint Hardener. The paint disposal solution allows users to harden and safely discard remaining waste paint. The hardened paint can be disposed in the garbage and the empty paint can may be recycled without releasing hazardous chemicals into the environment.

The Waste Paint Hardener is simple to use and can be achieved with seven easy instructions that include pouring the hardener into the paint, mixing until the hardener is worked into the paint, and waiting 10 minutes until the mixture resembles a dry rubbery ball. Following this, the waste may be placed into a newspaper, sit for the recommended time period and safely disposed of after checking with community trash disposal rules.

Glidden Professional Waste Paint Hardener uses new coagulation technology to harden paint instead of the water absorption process used by standard hardeners. With this technology, the leftover waste paint does not absorb or expand its size, which equates to less waste in the environment. The empty paint can may also be recycled, again diverting waste from the environment.

Additionally, the new Waste Paint Hardener solidifies waste paint to a dry rubbery ball that has very limited ability to “re-wet.” Therefore, the hardened paint can be disposed without releasing 99 percent of hazardous materials into the environment.
