Opera Paints®, a line of “environmentally responsible” paints and coatings imported from Italy, will make their debut in North America in September. The Opera line is being introduced by DDK Industries, Inc., of Los Angeles, CA.

The paints are manufactured by Di Donato of Abruzzo, Italy, one of Europe’s largest paint producers. Its products have been certified in Europe by ECOLABEL, which is similar to the U.S. Green Seal Certificate. Its paints sold under the Opera label in North America emit zero volatile organic compounds (VOCs), according to DDK Industries.

Opera Paints will be sold in the U.S. and Canada through a national network of distributors to selective paint stores, general and painting contractors, architects and architectural colorists, according to DDK Industries. The paints will be priced at $60 to $70 per gallon at retail.

For exterior projects, the company will introduce under the Opera brand the Silicon Quarzo Paint System, also a “green,” product. According to the company, advantages include “double the life of most other paints, color fastness, with virtually no fading, resistance to grime and pollution, and breathability.”

Other products in the Opera line include Lime wash paints and plasters; silk plasters; acrylic paints (ultra flats, low sheen, eggshell and high gloss); Baby Skin, which incorporates an anti-mold agent manufactured by Bayer®; natural finishes; silicate and silicon coatings; and mural anti-graffiti coatings.
