The National Association for Surface Finishing (NASF) has released the preliminary schedule of presenters and technical papers for the Automotive Symposium at SUR/FIN 2008, which takes place June 16-18 at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis.

On Tuesday, June 17, featured speaker Dr. Robert Schnorbus, chief economist, J. D. Power & Associates, will present the keynote address, “Regional and global trends; the impact of global sourcing; supplier concerns; and other related issues affecting the automotive industry.” A session on conversion coatings, chaired by Eric Olander, president, Electrochemical Products, Inc., will feature presentations on phosphate coatings, black passivates for zinc substrates, nonchrome black conversion coatings for zinc electroplated steel, two-layer passivation for alkaline Zn-Ni alloy coatings, trivalent chromium on aluminum surfaces, and zirconia-based chromate replacements.

On Wednesday, June 18, presentations will address zinc nickel alloys and dip spin coatings for fasteners, decorative acid copper plating, and a nickel-plated INVAR-36 alloy for carbon fiber composite molding tools.
