Celanese Emulsions is presenting a range of technologies at Booth #1200 to help paint and coating manufacturers more easily formulate low-VOC and low-odor products and introduced a “drop-in” alternative emulsion for vinyl acrylic formulations with high-scrub resistance. The company has added to its technology offerings this year to better support paint manufacturers in their pursuit of the perfect balance of performance and value across their product lines.

Celanese’s featured products at the show include EcoVAE® 401 and 405 vinyl acetate/ethylene (VAE) emulsions, which provide ultra-low emissions and excellent scrub and stain resistance. In addition, Avicor® 601 is a 100% acrylic emulsion that can be formulated into a wide variety of paint formulations with low VOC. Avicor 601 was also specifically designed to work with vinyl-based emulsions such as stretching your VAE from flat to semi-gloss sheens. Celanese also offers architectural coating manufacturers another way to achieve low to no VOCs in their paints with Celvaset™ PL 1000 coalescent, a low odor product with less than 0.2% VOC.

Celanese’s portfolio grew this year with the launch of Avicor 381, a vinyl acrylic emulsion that offers excellent interior and exterior durability, a balance of flexibility and hardness and superior scrub resistance. Because it can be dropped into existing high-scrub vinyl acrylic formulations, this emulsion delivers versatility and ease of use. It complements an already rich selection of VAE products available from Celanese.

According to Brad Moncla, marketing manager for the Americas, Celanese Emulsions’ technologies are helping paint and coating manufacturers to easily dial in their desired performance characteristics and VOC profile. “Celanese offers a multitude of options to the formulator to achieve low-VOC paints including our EcoVAE brand of vinyl acetate/ethylene emulsions, our new acrylic emulsion, Avicor 601 and the use of our ultra-low VOC coalescent, Celvaset PL-1000,” said Moncla. “Customers throughout North and Latin America are looking for alternatives in today’s world and with such an expansive line of products available from Celanese, they have flexibility in formulating.”
