HANOVER, MA - Sturtevant Inc., Hanover, MA, announced the sale of its 5,000th Air Classifier. Air Classifier Number One was sold to Reynolds Tobacco Co. of Winston-Salem, NC, and shipped on September 18, 1919. This early design still has features recognizable today in Sturtevant’s Whirlwind® Air Classifier, including an internal fan.
“Significant changes have taken place between the shipment of Serial Number One and Number Five-Thousand. Number One was capable of cut sizes in the range of 100 to 325 mesh,” according to Sam Rajkovich, Director of Sales and Marketing. “Number One was innovative for its time, the first internal fan classifier with sharp cut point classification and recirculation, the early predecessor of the Whirlwind® Classifier we offer today.”
