MALMÖ, Sweden - Specialty chemicals company Perstorp has acquired the Penta, Di-Penta and sodium formate businesses, related technology and certain assets from Koei Chemical Co. Ltd., a Japanese chemicals producer. As part of the business transfer, Koei Chemical Co. will act as Perstorp’s agent in Japan.
For Perstorp, the acquisition is part of the company’s plan to strengthen its position in the Asian market and to add a platform for long-term expansion of the Penta business.
Penta is used to enhance the properties in applications such as alkyd resins, PVC stabilizers, synthetic lubricants and varnishes. Perstorp is now producing Penta in three different production plants in Germany, the United States and Sweden.
