LONDON - The British Coatings Federation (BCF) has started targeting the Asian market with its unique distance-learning proposition for technicians and research and development staff in the global coatings community.

The launch was marked by a workshop held at Chinacoat 2015 in Shanghai at the end of November, where BCF Technical Consultant Peter Collins gave a three-hour workshop on the Evaluation of Colour, one of the intermediate modules from the suite of 63 bite-sized courses available from the Coatings Training Institute (CTI).

“The Asian market is a huge potential for coatings education, with many new entrants to the industry hungry for knowledge in these exciting growth markets. The UK has a great image for delivering quality training and education, and young chemists have a desire to grow both their coatings knowledge, but also their technical English skills; so, the CTI is a great fit,” commented Tom Bowtell, Chief Executive of the British Coatings Federation.

The BCF plans to work with the local trade associations in the coatings arena to help spread the word about the Coatings Training Institute and continue to promote the institute via the Vincentz Network, which will be showcasing the CTI at PaintIndia in January, as well as shows in the United States and Europe.
