TELFORD, UK – The POLYTEC GROUP has invested approximately €25 million in the construction of a new paint shop in the Midland town of Telford, UK. This expansion was prompted by increasing orders at the POLYTEC plant in nearby Bromyard, which primarily serves customers from the British automotive industry, many of which are situated in its immediate vicinity.

The foundation stone for the new production hall was laid in May 2017, and the building and paint line were completed approximately 10 months later. As scheduled, the shop started pilot operations in March 2018 and it is expected that up to 9,000 components coated with Class A topcoat paint will leave the shop daily.

During the initial development phase, Telford will have a workforce of around 100 employees and a production area of approximately 7,000 square meters, which incorporates environment-friendly and ergonomic processes in order to offer employees the best possible working conditions.

The new facility in Telford is able to offer customers advantages that include a fully automatic system, using the latest painting technology in combination with maximum process reliability and quick color changes, which will increase manufacturing productivity and cost efficiency. In addition, the geographical proximity to Jaguar Land Rover, one of POLYTEC CAR STYLING UK’s key accounts, facilitates optimized just-in-time delivery.

POLYTEC GROUP COO Markus Huemer explained, “With our new paint shop, we will not only serve our existing clientele, but also further consolidate our solid market position.” The company stated that numerous Central European customers have already expressed an interest in Telford’s services.
