MARIETTA, GA/MUMBAI, India — Birla Carbon has released its 2018 Sustainability Report, titled “Share the Strength - working together for a sustainable future.” This is the sixth consecutive annually released sustainability report provided by Birla Carbon since 2013. The report details the company’s progress across key performance indicators while aligning its sustainability progress to its Purpose – Share the Strength initiative.

The report adheres to the international standards of the Global Reporting Initiative G4 sustainability reporting guidelines at all levels and continues to focus on Sustainable Operational Excellence (SOE).

In this report, Birla Carbon further builds on the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, which apply to the three pillars of its SOE strategy — people, product and process.

Some of the important changes in the report include a revision of the key performance indicators and expanded targets until 2030. There are also changes to the waste key performance indicator, the inclusion of new key performance indicators for employee engagement and customer satisfaction, and expansion of the safety key performance indicator to include contractors along with permanent employees.

For the second consecutive year, Birla Carbon was awarded a Gold rating from EcoVadis for its efforts towards fair business practices and sustainable procurement.
