AMSTERDAM — The irresistible itch to innovate has resulted in AkzoNobel developing a scratch-resistant powder coating for the architectural market in both matte and satin finishes.

Responding to customer demand, the company got to work and has now added the pioneering dual functionality to its Interpon D range. Known as Interpon D X-Pro, it is available in both standard and super-durable formulations.

To prove its toughness, the product was subjected to rigorous testing using industry standard Martindale1 test equipment. The high gloss retention scores are proof of the coating's improved scratch resistance.

“We've listened to our customers, learned from them and delivered exactly what they want,” said Daniela Vlad, Managing Director of AkzoNobel’s Powder Coatings business. “Our product innovation is all about going beyond expectations, and we believe we can now provide the best possible scratch resistance solution. This way, the coated surfaces can be handled, assembled or transported with better scratch resistant protection.”

Products coated with Interpon D X-Pro are less susceptible to abrasions during handling and transportation. They now arrive at the end of their journey looking as good as they did at the start.

Interpon D X-Pro can be supplied from stock throughout Europe.
