NEW ORLEANS — Organizers of the Waterborne Symposium announced that Robson F. Storey will be the Plenary Speaker for the 49th Annual International Waterborne, High-Solids and Powder Coatings Symposium. The symposium will take place Feb. 20-25, 2022 in New Orleans, Louisiana. The title of the abstract for Storey’s presentation is “Alternative Polyurethane Polymers Cured via Azide-Alkyne Cycloaddition.”

Storey is Professor Emeritus within the School of Polymer Science and Engineering at The University of Southern Mississippi, where he has held a faculty appointment since 1983. He has served as Chairman or Co-Chairman of the Annual International Waterborne, High-Solids, and Powder Coatings Symposium since 1985. He obtained B.S. degrees in polymer science and mathematics in 1978 from The University of Southern Mississippi, and a Ph.D. in polymer science in 1983 from the University of Akron. He was awarded the Innovation Award for Academic Partnership in 2017 and the Basic Research Award in 2013 from the University Research Council. He received the Outstanding Alumni Award from the Department of Polymer Science, The University of Akron, in 2006. He has published approximately 180 referred journal articles and is an inventor on 35 issued U.S. patents. His research interests include cationic and ring-opening polymerizations, polyisobutylene-based polymers, surface coatings and reactive oligomers, biomedical/biodegradable polymers, block and graft copolymers, star-branched polymers, and ionomers.

The symposium is accepting presentation abstracts for the event. The deadline for abstract submission is Oct. 15, 2021. For more information or submission instructions, visit www.waterbornesymposium.com.
