LANGELSHEIM, Germany — The Heubach GmbH Group announced that it recently published the company’s second sustainability report. This report summarizes the company’s activities and progress for the years 2018 to 2020 at its sites in Germany, the United States and China and provides an outlook on the goals Heubach has set for itself over the coming years. The report was prepared on the basis of the guidelines of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and the 10 principles of the UN Global Compact.

The company’s existing materiality analysis was updated in the course of preparing the report. Key topics in this report are energy efficiency, reducing CO2 emissions, compliance, occupational health and safety, and responsibility in the supply chain.

“Heubach has more than 215 years of history as a pigment manufacturer. A sustainable, responsible approach to business is therefore firmly rooted in our company. We believe that sustainability is a key factor in the company’s long-term success, so it will continue to be at the very top of our agenda,” said Birgit Genn, Managing Director.

The report provides an overview of projects and the objectives that were achieved over the last three years, along with an outlook on the company’s goals for the next reporting period in the areas of corporate governance, product responsibility, ecology, social responsibility, and the supply chain. In the area of ecology, for example, the company plans to reduce its specific CO2 emissions by 25% and lower its specific waste volume by 10%, both of which are to be achieved by the year 2024, with 2017 as the baseline. Additional key objectives include embedding sustainability in the supply chain and improving occupational health and safety.

Heubach has been participating in the United Nations Global Compact since 2017. By taking this step, the company pledges to uphold the Compact’s 10 principles in the areas of human rights, labor standards, the environment and corruption prevention. The UN Global Compact is the world’s largest initiative for sustainable and responsible corporate governance. The sustainability report also serves as the progress report for the initiative.
