Miller Paint has been making quality paints in Portland since 1890 with a history rooted in creativity and innovation. In honor of its 132nd anniversary, the company has launched the Northwest Color Collection, featuring 132 curated interior and exterior colors that reflect the spirit and style of the Pacific Northwest region. The collection is available at all Miller Paint stores in Oregon, Washington, and Idaho.
“We’re thrilled to introduce our newest color collection that pays tribute to our region’s natural beauty from the coast to the high desert,” explained Puji Sherer, Miller Paint’s vice president of marketing, color & brand. “The simplified palette makes color-choosing easy and fits our casual and comfortable lifestyle.”
The new Northwest Color Collection includes 132 fresh colors of muted and contemporary hues carefully curated for balance, beauty, and harmony, with names including Skier’s View, Gloomy Weather, Silver Lining, River Pebble Gray, Rustic Timber, Soft Sea Glass, and Whale Migration. The colors make mixing and matching within the collection effortless, allowing painters to create a harmonious palette that is layered, comfortable and unique. The Northwest Color Collection can be mixed into all Miller Paint product lines, both interior and exterior. Explore these colors virtually with Miller Paint’s Room Visualizer tool.
Miller Paint was founded by a young artist from Germany, Ernest Miller. In Portland in the late 1800s, there were no local paint manufacturers. Paint was made and shipped from the East Coast with constant delays and paint products not suited for the region’s rain. Drawing on his artist background, Ernest Miller began creating his own quality paints, using bright, durable colors crafted for the Pacific Northwest’s wet climate. Word began to spread and soon Portlanders were asking for “Ernest Miller’s Paint.” The company is now employee-owned; it operates 56 stores throughout Oregon, Washington, and Idaho.
