At the most recent meeting of the CPCA board of directors, Governance Committee Chair Steve Veroba of Benjamin Moore, nominated Katie Maljaei of Brenntag Canada as new board member. The nomination was unanimously accepted by the board and is effective immediately. She will be one of three board members representing the Supplier/Distributor Class.

“We are so pleased that Katie has agreed to join the CPCA board, as her experience in the CASE industry in Canada will certainly be critical in helping with the board’s work and overall strategic direction,” commented Darrin Noble, president and COO of Cloverdale Paint and CPCA board chair.

Maljaei has a long history of working in the chemical industry with a Masters in Chemical Engineering from Vrije Universiteit Brussel, after a degree from Boston University. After moving to Canada in 1996, Maljaei started with SICO as a formulator in Montreal, Canada, now under the PPG suite of brands, and subsequently worked with what is now Protech Paint in Quebec, Canada. In 1998 she became the eventual Waterborne Coatings Group leader with AkzoNobel in St. Jerome, Quebec, gaining experience in formulating, production, and customer trials. In 2006 she began working with St. Lawrence Chemical Distribution, later acquired by Brenntag Canada, and was the Senior Product manager for Brenntag from 2018-2021. Maljaei is currently the Canadian National Sales manager.

Maljaei has a broad knowledge of the industry and is involved in a number of organizations, such as the Order of Engineers of Quebec, Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers, and the International Society of Female Professionals.

Noble said, “The entire board and management of CPCA are delighted Katie decided to answer the call to the board, and we look forward to working with her in the coming years.”
