For the first time, coatings manufacturer Hempel will participate in the UN climate summit COP27 in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt. Hempel joins the summit to support and push for an accelerated decarbonization, especially in the maritime and renewable energy industries.

“The climate crisis is an urgent global challenge. Nobody can stand alone in this. I am proud that Hempel is at COP27 to take part in conversations about how we can accelerate moving the needle towards a decarbonized future. There are technologies available to us already, and now is the time to implement these solutions,” said Michael Hansen, Hempel Group president and CEO.

“We strive to put sustainability at the heart of everything we do. Like all companies, we have a responsibility to reduce the emissions our operations create and the amount of resources we use. To this end, our Science Based Targets will see us reduce our Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 90% in 2026. We are also addressing our Scope 3 emissions, committing to a 50% reduction across our full value chain by 2030,” said Hansen.
