Hexigone Inhibitors, an innovative manufacturer of Intelli-ion anticorrosion technology, has recently been granted patents across several key regions, including Europe, the United States, China, and Indonesia. These patents validate the sustainable technology and emphasize Hexigone's commitment to revolutionizing corrosion protection in coatings.

Intelli-ion ensures the highest corrosion resistance, meeting the demanding "C5" standard in both solventborne and waterborne formulations. It offers the market a sustainable alternative to traditional inhibitors through its ‘smart’ ion-exchange protection mechanism. The granted patents protect the Intelli-ion technology as well as the synergistic use alongside phosphate-based inhibitors.

Dr. Patrick Dodds, CEO at Hexigone, highlighted the strategic significance of the patent grants, stating:

"The patent strategy strongly aligns with our growth plans on a global scale – and adds to our existing patents in the UK and Japan. It not only validates the science behind our anti-corrosives but also bolsters our commitment to offering a new standard in coatings protection across key industries. By working with competitor products, we can also offer decreased raw material costs as well as performance enhancement.”

Hexigone partners with Azelis as its specialty chemical distributor in the EU. Dan Mathias, Azelis' Marketing Manager - CASE, further remarked:

"Sustainability is one of the three strategic pillars at Azelis, together with innovation and digitalisation. Our customers are enthusiastic about Hexigone's anticorrosive technology. Its protection capabilities are impressive, and the added benefit of improved adhesion further enhances its appeal. Our promise is ‘Innovation through formulation’, whereby we combine ingredients with technical expertise to create opportunities through innovation, so the novel Intelli-ion technology aligns well with our mission.”

Intelli-ion has received global recognition, winning awards from the British Coatings Federation and EcoVadis (Gold). With 17 distributors, Hexigone is poised for significant market expansion in 2024 and invites coatings manufacturers to collaborate to create smart coatings.
