BASF and Koch Go Electric for Long-Haul Transport

BASF Coatings and Koch International are making the switch to electric trucks for long-distance transport. The companies have successfully completed a testing phase and are now implementing electric trucks on operational routes. This move is part of BASF Coatings’ broader sustainability strategy, which aims to reduce the company’s carbon footprint and promote the use of innovative, eco-friendly solutions.
The testing phase involved the use of electric trucks to transport goods over long distances. The trucks were specifically designed for this purpose and were equipped with the latest technology. Over the course of the testing phase, the electric trucks covered more than 10,000 kilometers and transported over 2,000 tons of cargo. The testing phase also included a comprehensive analysis of the trucks’ performance, with a focus on factors such as range, charging times and energy consumption.
The results of the testing phase were overwhelmingly positive. The electric trucks were found to be highly efficient, with a 45% reduction in CO2 emissions compared to traditional diesel trucks. The trucks also had a significantly lower energy requirement, which translated into cost savings for the company. Based on these results, BASF Coatings and Koch International have decided to move forward with the implementation of electric trucks on their operational routes.
The companies are now in the process of integrating electric trucks into their existing fleet. This includes the deployment of more trucks, as well as the expansion of charging infrastructure at key locations. BASF Coatings and Koch International are also exploring the possibility of using electric trucks for transport between their various European locations.
In addition to the environmental benefits, the use of electric trucks is also expected to result in significant cost savings for the companies. The lower energy consumption of the electric trucks will help to reduce operating costs, while the reduced maintenance requirements will also contribute to long-term savings.
BASF Coatings and Koch International are committed to building on the success of the testing phase and expanding the use of electric trucks in their operations. The companies see this as a key step in their broader sustainability strategy and are confident that the transition to electric trucks will deliver both environmental and economic benefits.
