Covestro Names Head of European Production Sites

Covestro is set to undergo a leadership change at its European production sites, with Dr. Yun Chen taking over as the new head. Dr. Chen will assume his new role on February 1, 2025, succeeding Dr. Daniel Koch.
Dr. Chen previously led Covestro’s production in the Asia-Pacific region and has been with the company for nearly 30 years. He is a chemical engineer by training and earned his Ph.D. in Germany.
In his new role, Dr. Chen will be responsible for overseeing Covestro’s European production sites for the Performance Materials Business Entity. He will also be tasked with driving the company’s efforts to enhance safety, reliability and efficiency.
Dr. Chen’s appointment comes as Covestro looks to navigate the challenges and opportunities facing the European chemical industry. The company is also focused on its broader transformation efforts, including its transition to climate neutrality and a circular economy.
“I want to bring in my experiences from Asia while also benefiting from the expertise of our European colleagues. I am particularly focused on the safety of our employees and production facilities. It therefore remains the foundation for our daily actions,” said Dr. Chen.
