Da Ban Technology’s Changxing factory in China has integrated an advanced automated dispensing system to enhance efficiency, precision, and sustainability in its coatings production. The system, installed by Inkmaker Shanghai, is a key component of the factory’s automation strategy, streamlining operations and improving product quality.

Da Ban Technology Changxing Co., Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Da Ban Tech (Jiangyin), operates a highly automated facility in Zhejiang Province. Spanning 88.6 acres with an investment of 1 billion yuan, the factory has an annual production capacity of 100,000 tons of high-performance industrial and specialty coatings. The first phase, operational since June 2023, produces 55,000 tons annually, with an output value of 1.5 billion yuan.

Enhancing Precision and Efficiency

The automated dispensing system has significantly improved Da Ban’s approach to color management. Previously reliant on visual assessments, the factory now utilizes data-driven controls to quantify and correct color variations, achieving accuracy levels as fine as 0.3 for high-end applications. This precision has led to notable quality improvements and a reduction in customer complaints.

In addition to precision, the system offers enhanced production flexibility. It supports configurations ranging from 0.5 to 500 liters without requiring front-end batching, allowing for streamlined workflows and faster turnaround times. The technology is fully integrated with Da Ban’s manufacturing execution system (MES) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) platforms, creating a connected, data-driven production environment.

Sustainability Gains

The system contributes to a cleaner production process by reducing volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions and minimizing the need for cylinder cleaning. These improvements align with Da Ban’s commitment to sustainability and its 5S Lean Thinking policies.

The factory’s central control room remotely manages material dispensing through BATCH and DCS systems, ensuring error rates remain below 0.1%. This level of precision supports Da Ban’s goal of maintaining high standards in coatings production for industries including petrochemicals, wind power, and new energy.

“The implementation of this automated system has significantly enhanced our ability to meet the stringent requirements of high-end customers both domestically and internationally,” said Wang Lei, production director at Da Ban Technology.

With the second phase of the Changxing factory set to commence production in early 2025, automation will continue to play a vital role in the company’s growth strategy.
