GEW announced it received the Flexographic Technical Association (FTA) Sustainability Excellence Award for its AeroLED2 UV LED curing system, recognized in the category of Innovations in Sustainability. The award was presented at the FTA Awards Banquet in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
The judging panel cited AeroLED2’s contributions to reducing energy use, eliminating mercury and ozone, and improving workplace safety. According to GEW, the system delivers energy savings of more than 55% compared to traditional mercury arc lamps and supports a cleaner operating environment with its air-cooled, negative-pressure design.
“For those adopting AeroLED2 curing technology, the improvements are clear,” said Jennifer Heathcote of GEW. “Users can expect a reduced carbon footprint, lower energy consumption, and increased reliability.”
The system is compatible with LED-curable inks across a wide range of presses and supports press widths up to 70 cm. GEW’s patented ArcLED platform also enables users to switch from arc to LED curing by replacing the lamphead cassettes and updating software, allowing hybrid configurations on a single press.
