Dürr announced that its 19,000th painting robot will be delivered to BYD’s first European plant in Szeged, Hungary. The robot, equipped with the EcoBell3 high-speed rotary atomizer, is part of a broader deployment of more than 120 Dürr robots at the site, supporting high-quality and energy-efficient automotive painting.
The plant’s painting lines feature Dürr’s EcoRP series robots in both 6-axis and 7-axis configurations. The 6-axis model handles exterior painting, while the 7-axis version automates tasks such as hood opening. The EcoBell3 atomizer enables fast color changes and consistent application with reduced energy consumption and solvent use.
Dürr also integrated its EcoSupply P special paint system, a piggable technology that minimizes paint and solvent waste by returning unused materials to containers. Additional innovations include custom feather roller cleaning robots to remove dust from complex EV body surfaces.
As one of the first Chinese car manufacturers to open a factory in Europe, BYD is leveraging Dürr’s global engineering and compliance expertise for its international expansion.
