AkzoNobel’s Packaging Coatings business has launched Accelshield™ 300, a next-generation internal spray coating for beverage cans that is free of bisphenols, styrene, PFAS, and formaldehyde. The coating offers advanced corrosion protection, flexibility, and sensory performance while exceeding current global regulatory requirements.
The FDA-approved technology is also compliant with upcoming EU regulations restricting intentionally added bisphenols. Designed for seamless integration into existing canning lines, Accelshield 300 cures quickly to improve production efficiency and reduce energy use.
“Our Accelshield 300 technology is further proof of our commitment to helping customers make the transition to a bisphenol-free world,” said Chris Bradford, marketing director at AkzoNobel’s Industrial Coatings business. “It’s a sustainable alternative with improved performance and long-term compliance built in.”
Accelshield 300 builds on AkzoNobel’s recent launches, including Accelshield™ 700 for beverage ends and Accelstyle™ overprint varnishes for two-piece aluminum cans.
