AkzoNobel announced the development of a new Resicoat powder coating for electric vehicle (EV) battery systems, offering enhanced electrical insulation with a single spray application. The innovation is designed to increase production efficiency while improving safety through high dielectric strength.
Now available in China, the one-spray technology is suitable for battery cooling plates, side plates, and enclosures. It allows manufacturers to achieve the required film thickness without multiple coatings, reducing man hours and improving throughput.
“This is an important breakthrough that addresses a clear industry need,” said Jeff Jirak, director of AkzoNobel’s Powder Coatings business. “The solution combines safety, efficiency, and durability—all in a single application.”
In addition to dielectric protection, the coating provides resistance to thermal shock, chemical exposure, and water immersion. The technology builds on AkzoNobel’s legacy in powder coatings for electrical insulation, including the Resicoat EV range introduced in 2023.
