PPG announced that its proprietary product carbon footprint (PCF), life cycle assessment (LCA), and environmental product declaration (EPD) tools have been independently certified to ISO standards by WAP Sustainability Consulting and the International EPD System.
PPG is the first U.S.-based coatings manufacturer to receive third-party validation of its cradle-to-gate environmental impact measurement systems. These tools quantify greenhouse gas emissions and environmental impacts across a product’s life cycle, enabling customers to make informed sustainability and procurement decisions.
“Having third-party verified LCA, PCF and EPD processes enable our customers to utilize trusted sustainability product information for their reporting, procurement decisions, or to qualify for green building certifications,” said Shen Tian, global manager of product sustainability at PPG.
The certifications have also reduced turnaround time for delivering environmental documentation and have made these tools accessible to PPG employees worldwide to support customer needs.
