BASF Takes Full Control of Key Joint Venture

BASF announced it has finalized the acquisition of DOMO Chemicals’ 49% share in the Alsachimie joint venture, becoming the sole owner of the production site for essential polyamide (PA) 6.6 precursors in Chalampé, France. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
With full ownership of Alsachimie, BASF strengthens its operational footprint at Chalampé, its European hub for PA 6.6 production. The move supports BASF’s backward integration strategy for key raw materials such as KA-oil, adipic acid, and AH salt, improving supply security and production efficiency across the PA 6.6 value chain.
The transaction aligns with DOMO Chemicals’ strategy to focus on tailored polyamide solutions for core markets including automotive, industrial, consumer goods, and electronics.
This acquisition follows recent BASF investments in the region, including the launch of a new hexamethylenediamine (HMD) plant and the expansion of PA 6.6 polymerization capacity at its Freiburg, Germany site.
