PPG announced the expansion of its easy-open end coatings for aluminum beverage cans to meet increased global market demand. Designed for the lid of aluminum beverage cans, the coatings preserve taste, quality and shelf life while enhancing productivity. The coatings are formulated without bisphenol A (BPA) and PFAS, aligning with evolving global regulations.
The expanded lineup includes PPG INNOVEL® PRO PPG2489, an internal coating for high-speed stamping and high-pressure conditions; PPG Innovel EVO PPG6720, a waterborne internal coating for beer with low VOCs and reduced film weight; and PPG iSENSE® PPG5018, a fast-line external coating available in clear and gold.
These coatings are manufactured across PPG’s global facilities and support high-speed processing, versatile applications, and regulatory compliance for food contact materials. They are compatible with both 2-piece and 3-piece beverage can systems and protect a broad range of beverages including beer, wine, sparkling water and energy drinks.
