The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency proposed rescinding the 2009 Endangerment Finding that supported federal greenhouse gas regulations for motor vehicles and engines. If finalized, the action would repeal EPA’s greenhouse gas standards for light-, medium- and heavy-duty vehicles and engines and initiate a public comment period to solicit input.
The agency cited updated scientific information and recent Supreme Court decisions among the factors prompting review. EPA said additional details on the public comment process will be provided in the Federal Register and on the agency’s website.
