Pyran, a producer of renewable diols for coatings and resins, announced that it has signed several letters of intent (LOIs) with leading coatings manufacturers for supply agreements. The company also confirmed plans to expand capacity at its commercial production facility in Madison, Wisconsin, citing increased customer demand for sustainable alternatives.
The agreements cover supply of 1,5-pentanediol and related building blocks, which are used in polyurethane, polyester, and specialty resin formulations. Pyran said its bio-based production process reduces greenhouse gas emissions compared to fossil-based routes and provides consistent performance in downstream applications.
“Our customers are eager for renewable solutions that do not compromise on quality,” said Melik Karaboyas, CEO of Pyran. “These LOIs validate the commercial demand for our technology and give us confidence to expand capacity.”
The company added that its expansion will allow it to serve both coatings and plastics markets, with flexibility to scale volumes as adoption grows. Pyran highlighted the importance of sustainability-driven innovation to support customer compliance and ESG goals.
