AmphiStar said it received an additional €2.5 million from SPRIND, Germany’s Federal Agency for Disruptive Innovation, to accelerate continuous manufacturing of microbial biosurfactants made from upcycled bio-based waste feedstocks. The company said the award follows prior support and underscores confidence in its technology within the SPRIND Circular Biomanufacturing challenge, which moves to Stage 3 with five teams producing three products from waste in a 180-day continuous run.

AmphiStar said its platform combines synthetic biology and microbial fermentation to create ingredients free from fossil and palm feedstocks. The company said recent partnerships in North America and Europe reflect demand for sustainable, waste-based solutions and support market readiness for circular biosurfactants across personal care, home care and agrifood uses. AmphiStar described its biosurfactants as the first commercially available made entirely from biobased waste and side streams.
